We’ve been hustling and re-arranging everything with COVID 19 and are so excited to announce that our 4th Annual Southern Seed School is now online and live! We’re excited to have the opportunity and challenge to put our content online this year due to our inability to gather in person. It’s our first time facilitating this type of engagement so we hope you enjoy it, and we can all learn from it. If you have not registered yet, you can find it on our Seed School event page!
Here is how Southern Seed School will work this year.
Online content for Southern Seed School is now available!
Check out the new online resources we’ve curated from our favorite resources on our Southern Seed School event page for Working Food. The main topic areas are divided out and you can start at the top and work your way down. Each topic is full of juicy tidbits of information, links, videos and more! We have a bit more content to upload and will let you know when something new goes up, so be sure to check back periodically. Work at your own pace but try to get through as much as you can digest before our chance to connect live on May 2nd. We are using the Facebook event page as an easy way to share stuff too, so keep tabs on that.
Live Southern Seed School Social!
On Saturday May 2nd from 10am -12 pm we will Zoom in together for a LIVE Southern Seed Social! Arrive with some of your questions lingering after going through the material, and maybe even your own seed story! Even if you are new to this, I guarantee you’ve got a story- a reason you were drawn to dig into this material! Special guests will be joining us- Ben Cohen from Smallhouse Farm in Michigan who is an avid seed steward, farmer, homesteader, author, and father who has helped start over 70 seed libraries in his home state! We’ll also enjoy the company and a reading from Janisse Ray, an award winning author of many notable books including The Seed Underground. This is an inspirational and groundbreaking book that set me on my seed journey! Local instructors Angela Minno, Timothy Noyes, Kathy Paterson, Jennifer Rex, Joseph Pierce and Melissa DeSa will be joining in the conversation as well.
*Please fill out this questionnaire ahead of the call so we have an idea of who is joining in and what you are looking for!* Everyone that fills is out will be entered into a drawing to win a sweet care package from us!*
Technology
We will send you instructions on how to get Zoomed in as soon as we have that available. Please plan on joining a few minutes early to get settled and have time to address any technology issues that may arise. I can’t wait to “see” you all! You must have registered for the course so we have an email record and can send it to you!
Donations
During this challenging time, we know many of us are challenged financially and so we are happy to make the resources freely available. If you were able to send us a donation to help defray the costs, thank you so very much! If you would like to make a contribution, you may do so here.
Feel free to ask any questions ahead of time, interact on the Facebook page and please consider taking the questionnaire so we know a bit more about where you are coming from!
