Looking back on our Pop-Up Pumpkin Tasting, we already miss it so much!
On October 19th, sampling out delicious pumpkin recipes from our local entrepreneurs and seeing the community come together made for an incredible day. We all came together to celebrate the delicious local varieties we have here and see how versatile they could really be.
Here’s a huge thanks to our amazing chefs and farmers who helped make this thing possible:
We were honored to have guest chefs David and Jane all the way from Singapore who showed up to share two of their cultural dishes using pumpkin. Spicy Pumpkin Asian Munch and Boba cha cha, a pumpkin coconut bubble dessert. Thank you so much Jenny of High Springs Orchard for letting us spend some time with your lovely brother and sister in law.
Wow! Jasmine with Farm Kitchen Collective had a mouthwatering pumpkin soup and cornbread that was so perfectly pumpkin. Eddie from Daily Green Downtown had his vegan pumpkin Mac ‘n’ cheese that was so creative and delish.
Justin from Hoggetown Creamery featured a pumpkin spiced latte ice cream!
Michelle from Fat Tuscan had beautiful and spiced balanced pumpkin panna cotta, cheesecake, and a pumpkin pie.
We here at Working Food offered a fall harvest casserole, pumpkin roselle salad, and herbed calabaza hasslebacks.
Our friend Mary Santello created a pumpkin kimchi that was so delicious, a special recipe she’s had and made for years, taking advantage of seasonal squash!
Last but not least, Cypress and Grove Brewing featured their deliciously balanced pumpkin forward pumpkin ale! It was so good and we were happy there was some leftovers at the end of the event!
Big thanks to Wayfaring Painter for providing crafts for kids (young and old), especially for the creative use of our Dudley Corn husks to make dolls and action figures!
A huge hug of gratitude to all of our volunteers who helped us from beginning to end! We can’t thank these volunteers/businesses/chefs enough for participating – they are why this event was such a success. We are honored to be in a community where collaboration, creativity, and fellowship exist.
We look forward to doing so much more around local farms, local food, and local chefs.
To those who came and those could not come: thank you! And we hope to see you at our next event, maybe another tasting? 😉
