Kitchen Program Director

(they/she)

Jasmine originally hails from Detroit, Michigan, but they have made a home in Gainesville for 15 years (and counting). After studying Anthropology and Organic Farming at Michigan State University, they worked as a cook and gardener at a cooperative summer camp, and also apprenticed at a goat dairy farm, both in Michigan. Upon moving to Florida with their partner, they worked as the Assistant Farm Manager at Frog Song Organics in Hawthorne for 6 years, and then worked as the Prep Manager at the Humble Wood Fire bagel shop in Gainesville for another 6 years.

Jasmine is very committed to supporting local farms by purchasing local produce to use in their home cooking, and they love to explore creative preparation and preservation methods for these foods that can be shared with the community. In their free time, they enjoy playing casual sports with Queer Sports GNV and the Stonewall Sports Kickball League, as well as doing casual arts and crafts, biking and hiking, reading and playing Wingspan.
